Save a child

Apart from investments in our business, we also try to invest in a better world. Good teaching is one of the conditions to guarantee children a better future. Therefore is Solyco sponsor of the Save a Child Foundation. Below is a description of the project we are helping.

The Sidama region lies in southern Ethiopia. In this vast and mountainous areas are not enough schools available to all children. The buildings that are there, often have overcrowded classes. Younger children, especially girls, often do not attend school. For them, the way they need to take is too long and too dangerous. Many children go later in life to their primary school and have a substantial backlog.

Partner organization RLAD gets into the Sidama region strong for this group of children. By building more schools and kindergarten in the villages, the threshold to go to school is much lower. In so-called step-up schools in the villages they offer primary education. Afterwards, children can move on to a cluster of schools in the area. For older children who have had no basic training, there is a short learning pathway. The schools are also used to give workshops, for example about hygiene, health and water. Tailored
